EKTA meaning Unity in Sanskrit is a luxury clothing label that fuses traditional crafting concepts with contemporary fashion. Drawing on her love of colour as well as her multifaceted Indian heritage that combines global and local experiences within a South African context, Ekta Kalan, has created a unique style marked by a dominance of bold coloration and modern, clean lines. Since launching in September 2016, EKTA has been well received by media globally and locally.

Helen Melon

" uncluttered and modern take on a contemporary urban lifestyle "

As an ethical producer of sustainable natural fibre clothing, textiles and ceramics, Helon Melon aims to educate and enhance lives by supplying relevant product to a conscious consumer. With a strong history of local sourcing and production, all product is designed and manufactured in Woodstock, Cape Town by South African women. Driven by Helen's studies and passion for architecture, Helon Melon makes use of clean lines and voluminous irony. With the key being easy living, Helen's uncluttered and modern take on a contemporary urban lifestyle invites the consumer to enjoy a sense of playfulness whilst still retaining the essence and intrinsic qualities of natural product. The product range extends to statement one-off necklaces, bracelets, backpacks and handbags, shoes, limited edition embroidery art and napery. Soon to be launched will be Helen Gibbs Ceramics, Fashion Vellies and a men's clothing range. Helon Melon collaborates on various projects and creates bespoke product and one-off pieces for a variety of high-end retailers and gallery shops.

Research Unit is a luxury travel and lifestyle brand based in Cape Town. Founded by husband-and-wife team Chad and Erin-Lee Petersen, the sustainably produced range uses the finest materials available on the continent. This includes cotton canvas, basket weave, French linens, hand-woven wool tapestries as well as natural, vegetable tanned leather from an old family-run tannery in South Africa's rural Kwa-Zulu Natal Province. Products are designed with meticulous craftmanship and consideration for form and function. The brand's sustainability ethos permeates all aspects of its business including the people it employs and the community it supports. Many of their highly skilled artisans originally come from disadvantaged communities and benefit from ongoing training and up-skilling.
